[W-LEAGUE] The Pali Blues (12-0-1) won their 12th win of the season on Sunday as they defeated the Colorado Rush, 2-0, on goals from Lynn Williams and Sarah Huffman. The Blues and second-place Seattle Sounders have clinched berths in the Western Conference championship match.
The Blues got on the scoreboard when Huffman stole the ball and passed it to Williams, who blasted a shot from about 35 yards out. Late in the second half, Huffman finally found the back of
the net off a ball played into the penalty area by Elizabeth Eddy.
The Blues and Sounders will play a tune-up for the Western Conference
championship when they meet on Sunday at Palisades High School.
-- Grace Hawkins scored four goals to lead the Long Island Rough Riders to a 6-2
win over the New York Magic on Sunday afternoon. She took her season total to 16 goals for Long Island, which holds the top spot in the Northeast Division. The North Jersey Valkyries sit in second
place trailing the Rough Riders by two points but with a game in hand.
-- The Southeast Division title will be decided Saturday when the Charlotte Lady Eagles (8-0-3) host the defending
champion Atlanta Silverbacks Women (8-1-2) at Charlotte Christian School. Atlanta, which had to settle for a pair of 0-0 ties at home over the weekend, leads Charlotte by one point. The Eagles
defeated the Central SC Cobras, 2-1, Saturday night on goals from Amanda Naeher and Lee Page.
United Women (10-0-1) has bolstered its squad for the playoffs with the addition of U.S. U-17 women’s national team midfielder/forward Andi Sullivan, a
rising high school junior in Lorton, Va.. "The timing worked out for us, having lost a couple key players and we know Andi’s a quality player because she’s been training with us," Head
Coach Mike Jorden. "Her knowledge of the game and how diverse she is as a player is really going to help us. She’s a great player and she can play all
over the field."
