Earlier this summer, the LIJSL received two tickets to the MLS All-Star game, and we decided to share them with our
members. After a short promotion on www.lijsoccer.com, Valerie Taliercio of North Massapequa was randomly selected to receive the tickets. She and her daughter Marisa attended the game between the MLS All-Stars and Manchester United at Red Bulls Arena.
The fun started before they ever got into the stadium.
“Outside the stadium there were tons of booths with activities and giveaways before the game,” Valerie told LIJSoccer.com. “Then, before the game started, the night started off with two guys parachuting into the stadium with fireworks going off all around us. It was pretty cool.”
Then, of course, there was the main attraction. The game. The stars were definitely out on this night,l and Valerie and Marisa had an up close view.
“The game was a lot of fun,” said Valerie. “We had a great time! The seats were amazing as you can see by the picture of the corner kick by Beckham. To get to see the action of such world class players up close was great!
“ The MLS All Stars came out in good form, but after about 30 minutes, Manchester U took control of the game and showed what makes them such great champions,” she added. “It was a bit one sided in that respect, but still, it was great to be at the game.”
The 4-0 final certainly didn’t take away from the experience.
“All in all it was a great night and we really enjoyed it,” Valerie said. “Thanks so much to LIJSL for the tickets!”
