Off the Ball: Plainedge SC Paints the Fields Pink! [ Oct 09, 2012 ]

There seems to be “pink” everywhere you look this month. As people around the globe, from the NFL to your local soccer fields, recognize and support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we see pink t-shirts, bracelets, ribbons, and so much more. But in Plainedge, the soccer club is painting their fields pink!

The PSC has literally painted a 9’ x 5’ pink ribbon on every field they play on! The club is also selling Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Ribbon Socks and wrist bands at their clubhouse and the middle school snack shack. The socks sell for $7.50 and proceeds from all sales go to the American Cancer Society. In addition, the Plainedge Soccer Club is donating $1 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure for every pair of socks sold!

“You can already see our fields full of pick socks, “ said Kevin Hume of the PSC. “From ages four to 17, they are everywhere.”

The Long Island Junior Soccer League salutes the Plainedge Soccer Club for helping to support this great cause and turning their fields PINK in October!  For more information on how to purchase the socks and contribute to the cause, go to the Plainedge SC website here.
