Based solely on the sheer number of children playing soccer, Commack is one of the most successful member clubs in the
Long Island Junior Soccer League. Their 1,797 registered players ranks second only to Massapequa (2163). But as anyone who has been involved with Commack Soccer knows, there is much more to this club than just a bunch of kids running around on soccer fields.
The club was founded in 1976 as the Commack Soccer League. Beginning with only a handful of teams, they are now made up of over 1300 families and a flourishing club that hosts traditional intramural and travel programs, an Interleague division, and a Pee Wee program for four and five-year olds. Commack is also well known for its Developmental program, which runs in conjunction with intramurals and serves as a prep program for those players wishing to play travel soccer.
Commack also participates in the TOPSoccer program, hosts an adult league, and also provides high level goalkeeper training. They are a partner in the High School Pre-Season sessions and run one of the largest Memorial Day travel and intramural tournaments in the tri-state area.
Walking the fields at Burr Intermediate School on a damp, chilly day in a steady rain on Sunday, you could see the enthusiasm this community has for the game of soccer. Congratulations to the Commack Soccer Club on their support for their local youth and the game of soccer.
