The East Islip Soccer Club was formed in 1979 as a PAL organization to serve the children of East Islip, Islip, Islip Terrace, and Great River. A year later, they were granted admittance to the Long Island Junior Soccer League with 464 intramural players and a handful of travel teams. Today, East Islip has a thriving club of nearly 1,600 players and 35 travel teams and maintains a model of building the club through the development of a strong intramural program.
Over the years, the East Islip Soccer Club has worked hard to restrict out of district players and develop their own town
players within the intramural and travel program, giving the program a true town feel. Long one of the stronger clubs on the Island, they have seen multiple division champions, LI Cup and State Cup Champions, including this year’s GU10 Fury (LI Cup Champs), and three “triple crown” winners.
The club also does an outstanding job of developing and running additional programs. They have run an outdoor intramural tournament at Heckscher Park for decades every Fall, an event that now hosts over 200 teams each year. They also began hosting an annual indoor tournament in the mid-‘80’s that funds their scholarship program for graduating seniors. To date, that event has generated over a quarter of a million dollars in scholarship money for local soccer players.
In addition to the intramural and travel programs, East Islip hosts a thriving pre-travel program and a U4 clinic program that focuses on fun and skills. They also maintain a beautiful complex at the Westbrook Fields just north of Montauk Highway.
Like most of our member clubs, it is the volunteers that make the organization run in East Islip, and each year the club honors an active non-board member with the Jack McAuley Award. McAuley established the club’s entire soccer education program back in the ‘80’s and embodied the philosophy of sportsmanship and fair play that continue to be an integral part of the club mission to this day.
The Long Island Junior Soccer League honors the East Islip Soccer Club and wish them continued success.
