21 LIJSL Teams Accepted into ERL
December 12, 2017
December 12, 2017 - A total of twenty-one Long Island Junior Soccer League member club teams have been accepted and will participate in US Youth Soccer’s Region 1 Eastern Regional League in spring 2018.
Administered and coordinated through US Youth Soccer Region I, the ERL offers competition for U13 – U19 boys and girls teams in the New England and Mid-Atlantic states seeking a higher level of play.
The ERL replaced the former Region I Champions League to identify itself as the premier league in Region I and more closely align itself with the other three US Youth Soccer Region’s leagues.
The league offers separate levels of play, with the Elite Division (limited to 16 teams) as the most competitive level. Teams compete within a showcase format offering the opportunity for their players potential exposure to college coaches at these events, while also facilitating travel into set weekends. For any additional league matches played outside of the showcase events, the league utilizes self-scheduling to provide the teams scheduling flexibility
Serving as a qualifying league for both the US Youth Soccer National League and the Region I Championships, teams that participate in the ERL also meet the eligibility requirement to play in their State Associations’ Cup pathway to the US Youth National Championship Series.
Congratulations! and Good Luck to all LIJSL teams competing in the ERL this spring.
