LIJSL Inducted New Hall Of Fame Members On Friday Night

The LISL inducted its latest class into the Hall of Fame on Friday, March 8 at the annual dinner to kickstart the convention.

Prior to the 37th annual LIJSL convention getting into full swing on Saturday and Sunday, four new members were added to the Hall of Fame. John Davis of East Islip Soccer Club, Gary Koffsky of West Islip Soccer Club, Diana Ricciardi of New Hyde Soccer Park, and Robert Walters of Baldwin Soccer Club all were honored.

Davis spent the past 20 years involved with the East Islip Soccer Club after coaaching his daughter’s U5 team. From that point on, his involvement only grew, holding different board positions for the club as well as serving as its president. He also helped organize the club’s Fall Classic, helping the tournament become one of the biggest on Long Island.

Koffsky has been heavily involved with the West Islip Soccer Club, starting as an assistant coach while in high school on the first West Islip girls travel team, which helped kickstart over 30 years of coaching. Over the past 20 years, he has served as the club’s president. Helping to grow the club’s footprint, as well as its Adam Novellano Tournament, Koffsky has also been in charge of one of the largest special need’s children’s soccer programs on Long Island.

Ricciardi has held various positions in the New Hyde Park Soccer Club. In 2001, she took on her first role with the club’s board, acting as the boys intramural commissioner, later becoming the club’s registrar and game scheduler. She also served as the club’s secretary, but in 2006, she became the club’s president, serving over 10 years in the role.

Walters spent over 40 years serving on the Baldwin Soccer Club’s board of directors. He has also always been involved in coaching the players of the club, still helping shape Baldwin’s youth soccer players by coaching intramural and travel teams. He also provided tireless work to line all the fields in Baldwin on his own for several years.

During the festivities, the Volunteers of the Year were also honored.

The LIJSL would like to wish congrats to all who received recognition!
