Final Club Development Day Of The Spring Set For Saturday

The LIJSL’s final Petro Home Services Club Development Day of the spring will get underway on Saturday, June 8, at Peter C. Collins Soccer Park in Plainview.

The platform provides opportunities for U7 and U8 players to play match conditions against teams from other towns, while the focus is on learning the game and having fun rather than on scores.

Over 40 teams are expected to participate on Saturday, continuing the growth of these events.

“I’m delighted to see the interest and participation in the Club Development Days continue to grow,” LIJSL Technical Director Ronan Wiseman said. “It shows that we have created the right atmosphere at the events for the players to have a great developmental experience and the parents to enjoy watching their children playing a game they will grow to love.”

The Club Development Days have certainly been having an impact for those that have taken advantage of them.

“The Development Day gave kids the chance to really feel like a star,” said Jason Orban, who is one of Northport’s head coaches at the U5-U8 level about prior events.

He added: “Our parents had nothing but good things to say about it. From a social and athletic standpoint, the event really hit all of our expectations for the type of experience we wanted our kids to have. It boosted relationships between clubs and offered us all a chance to come together solely in support of the kids.”

This Saturday’s event will also be joined by the New York Red Bulls Youth Programs team. On hand will be a freestyle crew, several skills challenge stations, as well as a DJ, prizes, and more.
